Hi Cobra’s families,

Hope you are all well and managing during this extended lockdown and also wishing a happy Father’s Day to the all the dads.

Victoria Government Update

Following on from the Victorian Government update from last week and the extension of the lockdown for a considerable period. I wanted to outline some of the consequential changes the club is making to deal with the next four to eight weeks, ahead of what we anticipate will be a change to COVID setting, to allow our season to commence.

Pre-season

Given the current restrictions, our previous start dates for the pre-season are obviously, now not possible. Our pre-season will start immediately upon restrictions being lifted for community sport and will be conducted in line with any additional COVID Safe requirements. Like last year, it will most likely be a shortened pre-season and so attendance for trials will be incredibly important. Further, like last year we will review performances after 3 games to re-assess the player gradings.

Registrations

With over 130+ junior players already registered for the season, once the season structure has been announced by the ECA, then we will re-assess the registration fee and if the season is curtailed the club will put in place an appropriate refund policy – which would include a pro rata refunds of fee (subject to an admin costs).

At this stage, we do anticipate a full season being completed (much like last season).

If you have yet to register, we are changing the fee structure so all players get registered now so that we can provide the ECA will team numbers for the season.

While all registered players will have to pay the full registration fee before the first game, to ensure your child / children’s spot in a team, we’re only asking for a deposit of $55 per player until we are clear on the structure if the season.

Blasters and Master Blasters will remain at its usual fee of $99.

For those that have already paid to full amount, we ask that you are patient with us until we understand the season structure and, if needed, we’ll make appropriate arrangement for refunds, at that point. However, you can, if you wish, request a refund back to the $55 level and we will accommodate that.

As always if you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact myself as the club has arrangements to assist in order to keep our kids playing cricket.

Home Pre-Season

Until we get approval for a pre-season to start, we encourage all Cobra’s player to start their own pre-season at home. We will be posting some great training drills on the club Instagram (@bcccobras) over the next few weeks for inspiration.

Look forward to getting back to cricket soon.
